# Privacy Policy — Umbra (Solar Eclipse 2026)

Umbra helps you find good places to watch the 12 August 2026 total solar
eclipse. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
It is written to be honest and specific rather than legalistic — if anything is
unclear, contact us (below).
## The short version
- **No account, no sign-up, no profile.** We don't ask who you are.
- **We don't run a server that stores your data**, and we don't sell or share
data for advertising. The app has no ads and no third-party tracking SDKs.
- The app talks to a few third-party services to do its job (maps, weather,
search, purchases). Each receives only the minimum needed for that request.
## What the app accesses
### Location (optional)
If you tap **"Use my current location"** in the location picker, the app reads
your device location to find viewing spots near you. Your location is used
**on your device** to rank nearby spots. You can instead pick a city, enter
coordinates, tap the map, or search for a town — none of which use device
location. The app requests location only when you choose that option.
### Network requests to third parties
To function, the app contacts these services. They may receive your IP address
(unavoidable for any internet request) plus the specific data noted:

We don't attach your identity to any of these requests. See each provider's own
privacy policy for how they handle requests.
### Purchases
Paid tiers are processed by the app store (Google Play / Apple) and managed via
**RevenueCat**. They handle payment and provide an anonymous identifier so the
app knows which tier you own. We never see your card details.
### Analytics
The **mobile app contains no analytics or tracking.** Our **website**
(eclipse.lluisgasso.com) uses Google Analytics to count visits; that is covered
by the website's own notice and is separate from the app.
## Data we store
- **On your device only:** your selected location, chosen filters, and which
tier you own. Removed when you uninstall the app.
- **On our servers:** nothing. We do not operate a backend that stores user data.
## Children
Umbra is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children.
## Your choices
- Deny or revoke the location permission in your device settings — the app still
works fully via manual location entry and search.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored preferences.
## Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves; the "last updated" date above will
change. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
